The hunting for huge trophy New
Brunswick deer in our guiding area is about as good as it gets anywhere in
Atlantic Canada. The surrounding area is heavily forested,
with beautiful hardwood ridges of beech, maple and birch and valleys of spruce, hemlock, fir, and cedar,
plus numerous small spring-fed brooks and beaver ponds.
The average three-year-old whitetail buck in our area will weigh 185-200
pounds. The average antler mass usually is 8 -10 points with a spread of 18-22 inches, with a score of 120-150. Most years, we take a few with 12 points and
more and weighing 250-300 pounds.
The typical New Brunswick deer hunting day takes place from daybreak until
half an hour after sunset from tree stands or ground blinds overlooking heavily traveled areas such as clear cuts, power lines, active deer trails, scrapes, rubs, and feeding areas. Hunters also
may choose to hunt over apple baits, which is legal in New Brunswick and has proven very successful. Hunters
who are experienced with GPS also have the option of still hunting. New Brunswick supports some of the
largest whitetail deer in North America and our area is
no exception. There is an excellent deer population in
our area and a trophy whitetail is an attainable goal
for the skilled and patient hunter. We hunt a variety of
cover from large clear cut areas in different stages of
regrowth (offering excellent browse) to heavy softwood
cover and beautiful hardwood ridges. There also are an abundance of old abandoned farms with apple orchards
available to hunt. The weather and food supply usually
plays a major role in how we hunt. Hunters are placed in
stands or blinds overlooking prime deer runs, scrapes
and feeding areas. Contact us today for more information
on our New Brunswick deer hunts. NEW
